I guess you could say I left Ohio in a hurry—less than a month after graduation I moved almost 1700 miles away from home. I started college at Brigham Young University summer semester (June 1997) and I was a year away from graduating with a bachelor's degree when I got married.
I met my husband through some of my roommates. We were married on January 7, 2000. We bought our first house in a small town about the size of Tiffin (only it was just a few miles outside of the third largest city in Utah).
I took a break from school and worked for awhile as a vocational trainer for handicapped adults and then at eBay in their fraud prevention department. I had my son Isaac Hinckley on June 17, 2004. I quit my job at eBay when I had my son and when he was six months old, I went back to school. I took my last final to finish my bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and the next day I had my daughter Charlotte Rose (born December 14, 2005). We bought our second house in Orem, UT just before Charlotte was born.
Maybe it sounds dumb to a lot of people, but my dream has always been and still is to stay at home with my kids. Since I think it's important to be employable just in case (like if my hubby died suddenly, and I had to provide for my family), I'm in the process of finishing up a licensure program at Brigham Young University in special education with a severe/profound endorsement. I'll finish up the program by teaching next year in a local school under a letter of authorization (basically it allows me to work at full pay and benefits while I complete all the requirements for my teacher's license).
My husband works as a technical consultant at Omniture. Omniture is the leader in web analytics technology and supports some of the largest sites online today including eBay, Google, Microsoft, Ford, GM, Sony, Walmart, the NFL, the NBA and many many more.
